The name of this place was taken from a French writer named Julien Viaud, whose name given birth was Pierre Loti. Over time this hill took the name of Pierre Loti.
WHO IS PIERRE LOTI?
The smallest of a Protestant family Pierre Loti was born in Rochefort in 1850, France. At the age of 17, he entered the French Navy. After completing his maritime education, he became a captain in 1881 and in the following years he was promoted to colonialism. He later reflected his experiences and observations on his journeys into his books.
For the first time in 1876, he came to Istanbul as a French officer, officer. Loti was influenced by the Ottoman way of life and showed this in many works. He was lived in Eyüp district in Istanbul. Pierre Loti, who admired Istanbul, has always characterized him as a Turkish friend.
In the years when Pierre Loti came to Istanbul, there was a coffee in the neighborhood of Eyüp. This coffee had a place in itself. The name of this place with the Golden Horn view is known as Rabia Women's Cafe.
HOW TO GO TO PIERRE LOTI HILL?
You can take advantage of the cable car service to reach the hill. But I have to tell you that the tail is a bit long at the weekend. As an alternative, you can also walk 500 meters to reach the place.
Pierre Loti Hill is located in Eyüp district of Istanbul. You can reach Eyüp with public transport or private car.
